tartan pinafore

PINAFORE New Look | GREY TOP New Look

I've been on a massive shopping mission lately, I've been working to build up a new autumn/winter wardrobe for myself and revamp my style and inject some fun back into my outfits. You'll see lots of my new pieces soon and I hope you love them as much as I do. Three things I've been obsessed with lately; New Look, 70's style and pinafores. New Look have been absolutely amazing lately, everything I see I want. This outfit I'm wearing above is all New Look, the tartan pinafore caught my eye in the petite section and I adore it. The little pockets are so cute and I love the muted autumnal colours mixed into the tartan. With little knitted tops or jumpers underneath this is a new staple in my autumn/winter wardrobe.
The 70s style that is everywhere at the moment is gorgeous, I can't enough. The cute little button up skirts, pinafores, cord and lace up front tops have me starry eyed.
What I really like about this style is how perfectly it suits my body shape and my taste. It also takes my love of preppy style but makes it more edgy and nostalgic, it's just gorgeous, I feel like it's a much more mature version of my usual style. I'm seriously obsessed.
Pinafores used to remind me of school uniform and I hated it, but I love the nostalgia!
The little grey top is from new look also, I've picked up a couple of these in different colours and some with the lace up front detail I'm also really loving right now. It was so cheap, only £6 in their black friday deal! It's really good quality and keeps me nice and warm.
I'm spending my christmas in Maine where it's bitterly cold and snows like crazy. A lot for this Brit girl to handle! As someone who has quite a hate for trousers, I'm going to pair thermal tights with outfits like this. The pinafore looks so cute with a cardigan thrown over and some heeled boots, I know I'm going to be warm but still looking good.

kayla itsines #BBG bikini body guide review - week two progress

Thank you for the lovely comments and support on my earlier Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide post (insert link). This week I really relied on the #BBG hashtag on Instagram to give me inspiration, meal ideas and read the amazing stories of the other girls doing the Bikini Body Guide. So I really recommend following Kayla Insines' Instagram if you're in need of some really great motivation!
Week Two started out amazingly, I took my progress picture in the morning and could see the difference the previous week had had. Each week starts out with Legs and Cardio, which I really liked this week, it was challenging and exhausting but the different exercises went together really well and I enjoyed this circuit quite a bit. If you can enjoy circuit training that is!
Kayla recommends that you do your own LISS sessions whilst completing the Bikini Body Guide and as I told you in my last post, I count my Ballet classes and Pole Fitness for these. I don't go to the gym and I'm not one to pound the pavement. Running is my idea of hell...
Disaster struck this week, Ballet went amazing I felt like my core was really tight and my posture had gotten better thanks to the extra resistance training I was doing with #BBG. When I had my Pole Fitness class during a routine that I'd already done a handful of times I pulled a muscle in my neck and shoulder. The pain was so bad, my eyes are watering a little even thinking about it. Immediately I had to stop and try and foam roll it out, barely sleeping that night the next day I could hardly move.
Resting injuries and taking care of your body is just as important as the exercises you do. Actually I believe it's even more important to heal yourself and let your muscles and body rest. Taking a few days to get even remotely able to stretch out my back meant that for week two I could only complete one of Kayla's circuits.
For week two of #BBG I only completed one circuit, one Ballet class and one Pole Fitness class.
There is a silver lining though! In my week one review there was no weight change, but this week I had a two pound loss. Can I just say... YESSSS!!! After a really horrible week, injuries aren't fun they hurt physically and drain you mentally, it was so nice to see that the hard work I'd put in was paying off. It's also a nice mental boost, it just goes to show, it's not the end of your fitness and health journey if you fall off the wagon. I stumbled this week but I didn't give in, I still made healthy meal choices and in the end everything worked out. My neck and back are much better now!

Yourtotes review

I was recently contacted by the lovely James at YourTotes to try a free months subscription and review their service. From the get go I was super interested and excited to give it a go, I'd never heard of anything quite like this. I'd heard of rental services, but never monthly subscription for clothes!
The concept is, you pay your monthly subscription of £39.99 and make a little wishlist of clothes. These get sent out to you and are yours to borrow for as long as you like, before returning them to swap for something else! I'll be super honest, to begin with I did think 'Hmmm £40 and I don't get to keep them?' but then I received my first beautifully wrapped package with three gorgeous dresses inside. What is quite exciting, is that if you really love one of the clothing items, you can buy it! So it's like a try and wear before you buy!

It just so happens that this first package arriving coincided with my birthday weekend, I had two dinners planned and both were very special occasions for me. Now girls... how many times do you buy an outfit for a dinner, night out, or get together and then just leave it in your wardrobe? If you're like me, then you like to wear something new when you have a bit of an excuse to get slammed up. Thats when I discovered the beauty of YourTotes. You wear the dress, feel beautiful and special but then swap it out for a cute little playsuit to wear next weekend when you go out with your friends...
Such a genius idea!

The website is really well laid out, with an easy to navigate service. The variety of clothes is more focused towards dresses and playsuits/jumpsuits, and is great if you're looking for something to wear that's a little bit more special. I also think it's a great way to try out new styles! My only downside is that I wish the variety of clothes was bigger, not that it isn't already really good! As the company grows and goes from strength to strength, their variety will of course grow with them!

The delivery was amazingly fast, your clothes come wrapped in beautiful tissue paper and sealed in a white box. It does feel very special receiving them.

Returning the clothes is also really easy, you simply write your name and address on the flap of the envelope, put your clothes inside and pop the pre-address and paid envelope into the postbox!

The quality of each dress I tried was incredible, I've shared my very favourite with you. I wore it for my birthday, and was so in love with the quality and how beautiful it was. I really recommend this service as something new, fun and exciting to try. Do I think it's worth it? Definitely, everyone should try this.

To take a look and sign up, check out the Yourtotes Website.

kayla itsines #BBG bikini body guide review - week one progress

If you follow me on Instagram you'll have seen me mention the Bikini Body Guide, or #BBG by Kayla Itsines, and how I'm progressing. Whilst I was making the decision to try out the guide and commit to the journey, I was researching and reading blogs of other girls who talked about their progress. So I figured, why not share mine too!
A little back story as to why I'm doing this, and what I want to get from it. This isn't so much about weight loss for me as it is toning and sculpting my body. You all know my love for Ballet and that my wedding is right around the corner, which means that I spend a good amount of time in leotards, and I want to look the best I can for my special day. Ever since tearing the ACL in my right knee and breaking my foot (thank you ballet) I gained a few pounds and lost a lot of the definition I had. On top of this I noticed that my fitness levels had dropped, I'd been out of action for a good solid 3 months. Overall I just wasn't happy with myself and wanted to get back on top of my game.
Unless you live under a rock, you'll have seen at least one Kayla Itsines progress picture on instagram, girls showing off their amazing progress and journey to healthy strong bodies. I wanted to get myself some of that action!
Consciously I made an effort to eat better, giving my body everything it needed, focusing on wholesome meals with lots of nutrients and good fats. I don't ever believe in denying myself something I want- what's the point? Instead I concentrate on moderation... small treats instead of a big feast or binge. For about a year and a half I suffered with fainting, dizzy spells, and headaches. After lots of trips to the doctor and a very worried fiance we finally discovered I had sodium deficiency. Why am I telling you this? Don't deny your body what it needs! My diet severely lacked salt because I believed that it was utterly bad for you, which isn't the case. Everything in moderation....
Kayla plans out 2 resistance workouts for your week that you should complete, and one that is optional. For my first week I only did 2 as I simply couldn't fit the last one in. The guide also recommends factoring in some LISS activities, Low Intensity Steady State sessions which should be around 30-45 minutes. I already do Ballet and  recently started Pole Fitness, which aren't exactly low intensity, but I counted them as my LISS activities for that week as they are something I both enjoy and am already committed to. There is one stretching session, again I do loads of stretching for dance, but I did add some much needed time with my Deuser Band working on my box splits. After I hurt my knee my flexibility really suffered and I'm trying super hard to get my splits back to what they were!
Did I lose any weight? No, however this programme highly encourages measuring progress by taking pictures in the same standing pose, at the same time each week. Did I see difference in my pictures? YES! I'm really quite pleased with the difference I notice in one week, and with the amount of resistance that I now have in my weekly workouts I'm 100% happy with how #BBG is making me feel.

anastasia beverly hills 'self made' palette

Can we stop and pause for a moment...
Okay, so how beautiful are these eyeshadows? Obsessed isn't a good enough word, it's pure love here folks. I'm not entirely sure I can write a coherent review because I'm still gushing over this palette. 18 deliciously buttery, bendable, pigmented shades that work together to create an endless possibility of makeup looks. Originally I was sucked in by the shades 'Isla' (5th, bottom row) which is a lovely turquoise/oceany blue with gold flecks running through, and Deep Purple (1st, bottom row) a deep rich purple. Upon closer inspection and having a play around I'm utterly balled over by 'Sherbet' (4th, bottom row) a beautiful rust that works in the crease too perfectly if you ask me, it's witch craft. Ranging from cool greys, to warm toned browns and golds, and vibrant purple shades, ending with a sparkly black this palette absolutely holds the top spot as my current favourite.
Anastasia eyeshadows glide on like butter, they're velvety soft and luxurious. The colour pay off is almost perfect, I find I have to have quite a delicate hand or it can get a little bit over the top, especially with the darker shades as they're so pigmented.
Blend ability is spot on, the colours blue into each seamlessly. This really is a girls dream, this palette really works with and for you, the colours are amazing with each other, there's not one single shadow that I haven't used or that I think is a bit of a lone wolf.
The packaging is great, the outside is very sturdy and I love the texture. The brush the comes with it is okay... I do use it, but it's not my favourite. it's just 'okay'. Possibly one of my only 'cons'!
As always it's so great to have a large mirror included, I've used this on the go whilst in the car a couple of times and it's been a life saver.
Staying power is wonderful, I don't find that the shadows crease, or get really any fall out. I can apply these for work at 7.30 in the morning, and my makeup is still going strong when I take it off around 8 pm at night. I've also had a lot of compliments on my makeup when I've used this palette to create a look!
Possibly because the shadows are so silky and soft, but as you can see in the picture a little, I do find a few stray crumbs... the shadows do seem to disperse and fall out in the packaging a little. Especially if you're using a dense brush.
At £26 this was a steal, I can't recommend it enough. It's limited edition though so go! go! go! Get yourself this as a little fall treat!

luxemme review - witchy co-ords

HAT, POLO JUMPER, BOOTS| Primark
WHITE CO-OR| *c/o Luxemme

Luxemme kindly sent me this gorgeous white co-ord to review and style up! How pretty are the white lace panels? I love how versatile these pieces are, and since it's been pretty chilly out I enjoyed taking something summery and making it more fall appropriate. What's also great about this co-ord is that you have two separate pieces that look great as the star pieces of other outfits. If you follow me on Instagram you'll have already seen me styling the skirt with a gorgeous south west style print flannel.
Feeling inspired by the crisp fall air and the beckoning of Halloween I went for something monochrome and witchy. Utterly adoring the black peeping through the lace to really create some dimension. This is absolutely a classy look and I think it suits my style amazingly, I wasn't one for co-ords before as I found them quite hard to work with. This two piece deceivingly also looks like a little dress, if you wanted something more mysterious and sultry take away the black jumper and let a slither of skin peep through.
This outfit saw me through a very lovely girly day of shopping, feeling very old school glam I channeled my inner Audrey and Marilyn as I strutted around with my bag on my arm.
The fit of these was lovely, almost perfectly true to size. I am quite a big booked girl for my size (but ain't nobody complaining about that!) so it was a little bit snug for me. The fabric was really nice quality, it will wash and last so well. I can honestly see this cute little two piece seeing my through almost any season and any occasion, it's super versatile and quite classic. In case you couldn't tell I adore the lace panel, I think it adds a pop of interest to an other simple outfit. Luxemme price this at around £35, and even though it's no longer available they have some gorgeous alternatives. A really cute alternative here!
Personally I think it's great value for such lovely items and I highly recommend them.

my oily skin foundation routine

It's been an uphill battle between me and my skin, constantly trying to combat the oil and get a nice even, dewy base. Products made for oily skin usually come with tailgates like 'matte' or 'oil reducing' but I want gorgeous glowing dewy skin! It was exasperating because my foundation would shift throughout the day or disperse across my face. With such amazing Beauty Gurus around to influence and guide my once poor choices, I've stopped trying to battle my oily skin and started to try and work with it.
This is just my foundation routine, my skincare is a whole other post! I could go on on, I'm a girl obsessed. There's something so special and empowering about feeling good in your own skin.
I'm not going to lie to you, my T Zone (forehead, nose and chin) look like Danny Zuko's hair after maybe... 2 hours of wearing makeup. My skins is super duper oily. With my routine though I gently blot and touch up with a tiny amount of powder around mid day and it stays perfect all day!
For base I have a power couple that help to create a strong oil control base, while illuminating and giving me that gorgeous glow I've been searching for.  Nars Pore Perfecting Primer and Chanel Le Blanc are what dreams are made of. My skin becomes very even, pores look and feel smoothed, and my skin gains a beautiful luminosity. Plus the Chanel base smells divine, sweet and powdery and very nostalgic. If they made it into a perfume I'd absolutely buy it.
Foundation is Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. I find it really build able, although it gives me the perfect coverage with just one layer. I'm not into heavy foundations, they look cakey and unnatural on my skin type, and full to heavy coverage doesn't give me the natural 'inner beauty' glow I'm aiming for. This glides on like a dream, evens out my skin and utterly glows. Throughout the day it doesn't disperse, thin out or go patchy like other foundations I've tried. The oil does come through but that can be blotted away. No touch ups of foundation required, just a dusting of powder along my nose.
Concealer is MAC Pro Longwear, to be fully honest this is the only thing I'm not utterly raving about. It hides any underage circles I have perfectly and is okay for the odd blemish, but I'm absolutely on the search for something that steals my heart like the rest of these products. It is lovely though!
Then reaching for my other Chanel (I know I know... I'm just not a fan of drugstore base products for my face, they're defeated by my oily skin) Foundation this time the pressed powder. Isn't the package just beautiful? I gently dust this along my nose and forehead, run some under my eyes but leave my cheeks. We're working on a glow here!
Top this all off with a spritz or two of Fix + by MAC and I'm practically perfect in every way! Haha well not quite... but it is a routine I'm loving because it works well with my skin.
What are some of your tips or routines for oily skin?

september favourites

CONDITIONER here | CHANEL Le Blanc and Vitalumiere Aqua | BOOTS New Look
HAT Topshop | JUMPER Topshop | CARBON MASK Ebay | TRAINERS Nike Free ID

September was a fun old time! My best friend is exactly a week older than me so we had a month of celebrations and birthday shenanigans. I thought it would be nice to do a little round up of some of the things I've been loving this month, who knows you could end up super obsessed like me.
I touched up my ombre not too long ago to get some of the brassy tone out, and wanted a really rich and nourishing blonde hair conditioner. This Toni & Guy one is amazing, it smells beautiful and glides on almost like a mask. My hair is left really soft and it's helping to tame the damage done by bleaching.
Chanel! Oh Chanel! I was always interested in the Vitalumiere Aqua, especially as I have oily skin, I was incredibly curious as to whether this would suit me ad help combat the oil. Oh lordy lordy boy is this a match made in heaven. The Le Blanc base and Vitalumiere Aqua give me a dewy bright glow, but give me a long-lasting foundation that I only need to briefly touch up. it doesn't move or disperse like other foundations and I'm obsessed. I've been on a huge mission to gain control over my skin and find a routine that works, I can post about it if people are interested because I've found something that really works.
New Look have had some gorgeous shoes and boots in this past month, I picked these up a couple of weeks ago. In person the heel is around 3-3 1/2 inches, but they're so comfortable! I love these, they're definitely my boots for this season. Black boots have always been my go to, but I really like these as an alternative.
Autumn means floppy hats, need I say more? Recently I've picked up two, they're just perfect for the crisp months. I love the mystery and playfulness they can add to outfits, absolutely go and grab one for yourself. Style is always about having fun, thats what these hats bring for me! Lots of fun and an interesting element to a very simple outfit. I love wearing hats with the two casual outfits I've posted about! Read those here and here.
For the exact same reason I've been loving polo necks, and funnel necks. The weather isn't cold yet, but it is chilly. I think polo and funnel neck jumpers are so darling and classy, they're incredibly simple but chic. Absolutely love them right now! Primark have some gorgeous ones for really great low prices, I must have one in every colour they do.
As I mentioned earlier, I've been on a real mission to get my skin to work for me. I saw this carbon mask on youtube via the gorgeous Emily Canham. Once a week is about how often I do this, but it works really well at pulling out the built up oil in my pores without damaging them. For a brilliant £8, it give amazing results and bang for your buck.
Finally, Mr.P got me some Nike Free ID shoes for my birthday, in a gorgeous mint and pink. The above picture is the closest to my own pair I could find. You all know how much I adore Ballet, but I also love going to the gym! I go after work, it really helps de-stress and gives me some much needed time to myself. About 4 months ago I tore a ligament in my right knee, and a couple of weeks ago broke my big toe! Having good supportive and comfortable gym shoes is so important to maintain the health of my injuries. These shoes are AMAZING. He also monogrammed them so you know.... he's definitely a keeper. Love these.
Let me know if you've tried any of these or if you'll be trying them!

bow addict

JUMPER Similar
it's totally adorable and darling | JEANS Topshop | SHOES Similar | BAG Louis Vuitton | SUNGLASSES Ray Ban

Another adorable casual outfit from me! My fiance always says it looks 'very english' when I put a collared shirt underneath one of my jumpers! This outfit was super comfortable and effortless for a weekend lazing around, doing a spot of shopping and running errands. It's always the little extra details that pull outfits together- folding over the hem of my jeans, and turning up the sleeves on my jumper, adding my trademark bow (I almost always have a bow in my hair in day to day life, I'm a bow addict).
This jumper is a staple in my wardrobe, it's boxy and light with gorgeous little jewel embellishments. Now I know I lament wearing jeans, I went on about them in my previous casual outfit post. These jeans are super soft and stretchy though! Tiptop never does me wrong in the denim department. They're more legging like than jeans like and I love them.
I just think this outfit looks super put together, but relaxed and effortless at the same time. Does that even make sense? I don't care, I think it's cute! Little bit of prep, little bit of classic British properness. Basically my perfect look. What do you normally wear for a casual and comfortable outfit when you still want to look polished and well dressed?

wedding series : yes to the dress

This is indeed a close up of me in my dress!!!!!
Last weekend, the 12th of September I had booked myself into a boutique not too far from my house and set off with my Mum and her friend in tow to just browse. I can't stress enough how utterly uninterested I was in trying on dresses. There'd been a few fittings here and there that were nothing special and fuelled my disenchantment for dress shopping. Being pretty small, and babyfaced (I get mistaken for a teenager all the time, just a couple days ago a lady though I was sixteen) nothing felt right for me. Trying clothes on in shops is something I avoid, and I'm not a big fan of having my outfit scrutinised. Yes yes, I understand I post outfit pictures but a wedding dress is so much more. It's special and symbolic, and really my only time to actually dress like a real princess.
Driving to the boutique I felt sick and nervous and very self conscious, not at all excited. The bridal shop was so warm and welcoming inside that I instantly felt perked up! The amazing girl that helped me was an angel, she knew exactly what style would suit me and with my weary nod of approval started pulling dress and whisked me off to the fitting room. My dress was the second one I tried on, an instant hit that I could feel was right, before I even saw it. It hugged and shaped all the right places, and turned my petite young looking self, into a mature beautiful looking (princess)bride.
Another lady there to try on dresses called over how much she loved it and how much it worked with my figure, the designer of the dress was also in the store and she said she loved how it looked on me and had thought it up with someone of my small frame in mind. I'm 5'2, size 8 but curvy. My waist edges towards a six so my figure does look quite exaggerated, but it gets lost more often than not in whatever I'm wearing. This wedding dress though clings and glides perfectly.
It's a very over the top mermaid shape in a gorgeous antique lace. I'm having a few alterations made to the shape and design but they're a secret!
It was absolute fate that I got this dress- they only made one of each size for all of their dresses. Earlier in the week my size had been returned (clearly a sign right?!!) and was the only size of this dress left. Because it was a return and had some imperfections from where the previous owner had transported it back, they agreed to let me have a new one made. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world!
So here it is, my 'yes to the dress' story. From being completely underwhelmed and overly self conscious, to feeling amazingly beautiful and special. Any guesses as to what the rest of the dress looks like and what alterations I'm having made to the design?

casual floral

JEANS Topshop | PEPLUM BLOUSE similar here | SPERRYS I like the pink ones
I'm not a huge lover of jeans, these are in fact the only pair I really wear. Topshop has always been my go to for anything that constituted as 'trousers' because they seem to give me the perfect fit. These jeans are perfectly stretchy and short enough for my little legs. I'm coveting another pair in black, though I'm not sure my knees will appreciate being subjected to the cold fall and winter air!
This peplum tunic is a wonderful breezy fabric that is ever so slightly sheer. I love the billowy fit and how easy it is to wear, paired with jeans and a little vest, or thrown over a black body con dress(my favourite way to wear it) it's so relaxed and girly.
Rarely will I be seen in such a laid back outfit, I'm a firm believer that you can never be underdressed, it's just so nice to relax and have fun with your look from time to time. This outfit is seriously one of my favourites!
Now my shoes... I'll tell you a secret, I think Sperry's are ugly most of the time. Boat shoes do not at all 'float my boat', the love hate relationship I have with them is long standing. As far as flats go, I'd say they're up there in my favourites for comfort. Am I a flat shoe kinda girl? Nope. Being 5'2 and a shoe fanatic, heels are my one true love. There's just something quintessentially preppy and sweet about Sperry's with jeans or leggings and a cute feminine top.
I hope you liked my little errand running casual outfit! What do you like to wear when you're going for a more relaxed and comfortable look?

birthday wishlist

THE BLOGGERS PLANNER  Get it here | BOOTS Topshop  | DRESS Lilly Pulitzer | LIPSTICK Mac | NIKE SHOES Gorgeous pink Flynit | PYJAMAS from River Island Top and Shorts | RING Pandora | MONOGRAM NECKLACE Bauble Bar

I turn 22 soon! It feels so strange to say, I feel like I'm only just getting used to being 21, but it's birthday time already. Putting together my birthday wishlist is always fun. Any type of gift is a special surprise, it's such a nice feeling knowing somebody has spent time and taken care to pick out something they think you'll enjoy. Above is my dream presents for this year! It's not a very imaginative list, it's just some bits that I've had my eye on for a while.
The Bloggers Planner is amazing! You should definitely check it out. I feel like it's a must have for any blogger to help you plan your posts and keep on top or organising your blogging life.  Now that we're facing the cooler fall months I'm in need of some cute little ankle boots, these Topshop ones are beauties!
By now you know I love myself some Lilly Pulitzer, can we take a moment to welcome this gorgeous white dress to my blog... wow! the Gold piping detail speaks to my soul. I'm in love. Somehow this dress will be mine (Lilly need some stores in the UK, I'm desperate for some of their pieces). A girl can always use new lipstick, it's been a long time since I was treated to anything MAC.
Alongside ballet I really try to keep fit, especially now that I've bought my wedding dress (eye! I'm so excited, no sneak peaks of that though I'm afraid) I want to really concentrate on toning up and staying in good shape. My running shoes have seen better days, some bright Nike running shoes will be such a great motivation. River Island have had the softest, silkiest pyjamas. I love lounging in pretty pyjamas, and getting ready in a pretty little matching set for a special occasion. Love these so much!
The Pandora ring I wear on my right hand is a daily staple, I never take it off. Another ring to stack on top would look so cute and really balance out my hands, I feel like I need rings on my right hand to even out my engagement ring on my left hand. Monogram EVERYTHING! I live for Monograms! An acrylic three letter would fit into my necklace collection perfectly, I'm just itching to get another monogram necklace.
Is there anything you'd steal from my wishlist and add to your own?

how to have the best movie night

This post contains sponsored links from Panasonic.

Having the perfect movie night is something I've perfected and love indulging in. Combining just a few key elements guarantees that your night in will rival any big night out you might have planned. I firmly believe in pampering yourself, and I love at home date nights, what could be better than creating the best move night for yourself?
Too many times I've squinted at my laptop screen with my fiance trying to watch a movie. I dream of getting a 4K TV for our house after we're married to take our movie nights to the next level. Panasonic has some amazing ultra HD TV's that you can see here, imagine how amazing your favourite movie would look!
Getting cosy is my number one priority, I always get my into my softest pyjamas, surround myself with pillows and snuggle under blankets. On occasion I have been known to go one step further and make a blanket fort, embrace your inner child! Movies are always better in the dark, so to really create an amazing viewing ambiance light some scented candles. My rooms is full of my favourite Bath and Bodyworks candles that smell like heaven and really relax me.
To really have the best movie night snacks are a must. Give your snacks some extra sparkle and try gourmet popcorn! This recipe for Popcorn espresso macchiato balls is delicious, and takes less than 30 minutes to make.
Picking a movie can be a real struggle, luckily I’ve found a list of the 100 best movies ever! I’ll be watching my firm favourite The Lucky One next movie night (I’m a sucker for Zefron) what will you be watching?

what's in my ballet bag?

If you're anything like me, then posts like these are your guilty pleasure. I'm such a nosy parker, there's nothing more I love than getting myself a cup of tea, something yummy to eat and sitting down to read a post that lets me peak into somebodies life. Being a ballet obsessive I decided to go against the norm and show you my dance bag!
The actual bag is a tote from Victoria's Secret, they were giving them away if you spent over a certain amount. I have control issues when it comes to Victoria's Secret, I just can't help myself. It fits everything I need perfectly, and I think the stripes are so cute.

The first things in my bag are my dance wear bits and bobs. My school has a navy uniform, which looks so cute with pale pink and I actually really prefer it to black leotards. My skirt is from bloch, to class we have to wear our skirts and leotards, and usually we're not actually allowed warm ups. I do have a pair of pink leg warmers in my bag though. Recently I tore a ligament in my right knee, and I also broke some little bones in my left foot. It's so important to protect these injuries and work to strengthening them, so if the studio is cold I'll wear these to help me warm up at the Barre. These shorts are from Primark, I leave them in my bag to throw on after class to drive home in.

Next we have my soft shoes, because of the bad foot I'm not wearing shoes with a box on them right now, but I shall be soon! Hurray! I absolutely cannot wait to be back to my normal self. The striped bag I made myself to keep my shoes inside, those things start to smell bad pretty quickly so a little bag is a necessity. Two EOS lip balms, every time I got to visit my fiancé or he visits me I stock up these. They're amazing, everyone needs at least one! The long rubber band looking thing is called a Deuserband. It's really great for stretching for splits and warming up. My trusty water bottle to keep hydrated during and after classes. I also keep my Vera Bradley purse with some spare change and keys inside.

Hair donuts- can't go to class without the perfect bun! Deo for that B.O (haha dancers STINK, don't be fooled by the pretty hair, we get sweaty!) and a stretchy bandage that's there 'just in case' my knee feels weak or starts to act up. I also keep a mini bath and bodyworks hand sanitiser.

Lastly I have my little bag of tricks. This tiny bag is from Juicy Couture, it came with a gift set of perfume I got a couple christmases ago. I keep in here some spare hair ties and bobby pins, a little bow, some blotting paper and paracetamol. Cramps, headaches and sore feet aren't fun to deal with. I've also found plasters are an absolute must, I get so many blisters from my everyday shoes.
If you've ever considered taking a dance class I'd say go for it! Especially as an adult! So many dance schools now offer 'adult' classes, or will include you in their various other classes. I joined as a teenager and fell in love, it's great for mind and body.

over the knee

BOOTS the tan pair are on sale on Asos!! | JEANS similar distressed jeans | TOP similar top with cute floral trim!

Over the knee boots have always caught my attention, but being kind of short (I'm only 5'2) I never really thought I suited them. Boots that are thigh kind always seemed to swap me, but I absolutely love this pair from London Rebel. I wore this cute little outfit to go for a cute mother-daughter double  brunch date, with my mum, her best friend and her daughter. These boots make me feel sassy, and they look super cute. I've found that because these boots are fitted and slightly slouchy, my legs feel longer. White jeans are a staple in my wardrobe, I'm not much of a trousers kind of girl, but white jeans are a must. Especially in the spring and summer months, white jeans are a classic and classy look!
This cute little vest has a crochet trim. A crochet trim. If you know me, you know I'm a sucker for detail, pom moms, tassles, crochet... it gets me everytime. I picked this top up, and it cost me the grand sum of one pound. Being thrifty and finding bargains is like a hobby for me, surfing depop and hunting TK Maxx for deals is fun. Who doesn't like saving money! Being a very recent graduate, I'm still in my student state of mind, but it makes sense to me to be smart with my money. I like buying new clothes (as often as possible) so thrift is the way froward. This top came from the car boot. About a 20 minute drive from my house on a Sunday lunchtime there's a very nice little car boot sale. This still had the tags on and was from Hearts and Bows! Woo!
My necklace of course has my monogram on it, I'm also a sucker for anything monogrammed. Honestly, when I got engaged I was so excited but also a little sad that I'd have to replace all of my monogrammed things because my name will change.

Wedding Series - 'Wait... you're in a Long Distance Relationship??!'

So I thought I'd follow up my proposal story with a post about what it means to be in an LDR. I often get so many questions, and see so many other posts and Buzzfeeds about being in a Long Distance Relationship and half of them really drive me crazy. I thought an honest and uplifting insight should be shared!
We've been together for two years and we're now engaged (eeeeeeeeee I'm SO excited!) you can read how my fiancé proposed here. We first met while I was studying abroad and dated for 10 months before I moved home. Lucky for us we'd settled into our relationship and knew each other really well. Now that I'm back home it means that we have to travel to see each other, sometimes going months apart. It's not impossible though, and there are so many plus sides to this type of relationship. Here are some things I discovered, and my insights into what it's like, for all you other LDR couples out there.

1. Once you're in one, it seems like everybody else is!
I actually know four other couples who are long distance relationships. Living in different time zones kind of long. One couple is actually my best friend and Big! Like me she's engaged, with a beautiful country style wedding planned for next year. It gives you hope and comfort to know this. Being in an LDR isn't out of the ordinary, or impossible, it's perfectly normal and super possible actually. Chin up buttercup!

2.  Being apart is heartbreaking, but when you're together...
You know how exciting the start of a relationship is? You get butterflies and message each other constantly. Talking to them makes your heart beat really fast, and when you see them you can't stop holding hands and smiling. That's what it's like every time I get to see Mr.P. It's true that being away from each is hard, I cry and miss him always, but the time we spend together is worth it.

3. You will go a little crazy.
A message goes unread, or you don't get a reply for hours (even when you take the time difference into account). There's been times where I've gotten incredibly jealous other something that doesn't even exist. It's easy to loose your mind a little, emotions are in over drive and you're bound to have some doubt. This happens in any relationship though. It's natural and normal, you just need to remember to be open and share your low points with your boyfriend or girlfriend. Communication is so important.

4. Money.
It costs a lot. I worked my butt off this past year while finishing University to be able to save enough to fly out and visit Mr.P. But you get to travel! Hello.... extra vacations! It's something you need to understand and be organised about. Look for cheaper travel options, and plan in advance.

5. Everyone and their dog will have an opinion.
They'll always be right, and you'll always be wrong, biased, or odd. I've come across some nasty comments from people when they've found out about my relationship. I've also had wonderfully supportive friends, family and strangers. Just remember that it's nobodies business but you're own, you have nothing to prove, and nothing to defend. Keep a positive mind and it'll all be okay.

what to wear to work

Way back in July I graduated (finally) from University! Now that summer is over and I see a lot of my friends going back for their last years, and see my Uni's updating their facebook groups it's bittersweet. I would love to do it all again, but now I have the total freedom of taking on my next goals. So while some of my friends get to return to classes and socials, I've only gone and landed myself a job! Cheer with me please, because I'm so excited. Throughout my degree, and this last year especially I put in a lot of hardwork and set myself up for after graduation reasonably well (a blessing of working in a Careers department) and my new job is something I know I really want to do.
This opens up a new type of dressing, work wear... Did you ever watch music videos like this one and imagine what glamorous work look you'd go for? I did for sure.
There's something refreshing about a well put together outfit, with a clean crisp silhouette and an edge of preppy that I love. By this time in a couple of months I'm sure I'll be over the idea of dressing formally and will be crying out for yoga pants and my playsuits, but until then...
Here is my ideal outfit!
The shoes and necklace are in similar shades of light blue. Powdery softness for the sleek little heels, and a brighter necklace to keep the outfit fun. I really adore these shoes, the heel isn't too high and the pointed toe paired with the T-bar strap is more dressy and work appropriate. Having a soft pastel for the shoes works amazingly with the blush of this gorgeous Topshop pencil skirt. It's simple with an interesting pop of detail at the waist line. Having a soft flowy shirt keeps this comfortable enough to be in all day, with polka dots giving some more detail adding another level of personality to this outfit.
Lastly I can't live without an MK tote to carry around everything I'd need. Then the Lilly Pulitzer agenda... I'm a huge Lilly Pulitzer fan, here in the UK we don't have any stores and it breaks my heart because shipping and customs is just so expensive. I love my Lilly agenda and use it to organise my entire life, I highly recommend using a planner to help you get organised. My Lilly has my monogram on it also because like they say, if it's not moving...monogram it!

date night

DRESS some gorgeous alternatives here, here and  | NECKLACE a beautiful alternative choice | SHOES Miss Selfridge sandals | BAG Michael Kors, I love this alternative

Date Night with my fiancé consisted of way too much delicious Indian food- I was SO stuffed when we stopped to snap these pictures. A really great movie, if you like semi-scary movies then The Gift is perfect. I'm usually an absolute baby when it comes to Horror but this one was a winner for me, go see it! All topped off with me kicking his butt at table air hockey. There's only two things I can beat him on, bowling and table air hockey.

This dress was another Depop find! It's originally from forever 21, but I think I managed to get for £4. The beautiful blue is so rich and striking it's the perfect alternative to an lbd. This dress is something I throw on and know looks great and makes me feel good. Plus it's nice and loose so it finds my inevitable food baby...

I'll share a secret- I hate buying shoes. There never seems to be any that I like, or fit well. I love shoes, but I just hate shoe shopping. These beauties aren't the most comfortable, my feet are always sore and battered from ballet, but they're so elegant it's worth the ouchy toes. I love the subtle gold detail and the clean cut of the horizontal straps. The heel isn't too high or low, I think they can be worn in so many ways. With a pair of ripped jeans and a plaid shirt when it starts to cool down, you'll see a lot more of these shoes stomping around here!

Wedding Series 'How He Asked...'

On June 5th my wonderful boyfriend proposed to me! It was the biggest shock of my life, and I was in a daze for a couple of weeks after. Now in the middle of wedding planing madness, as well as being a bridesmaid to one of my best friends next year, I thought it would be a great idea to start a wedding series! I'll share my inspiration, tips, things I buy and take this series along with me in my planning process. To start with, we'll have a good old fashioned fairytale... not really. But I do love a good proposal story.
September will mark our two year anniversary, I feel so blessed each day to have him in my life. He's American, I'm English and we met whilst I was studying abroad at his University, you can read my thoughts and tips on being in a long distance relationship here. Honestly he was one of the first people I met there, through a mutual friend, and I was crazy for him! The first time I saw him we were waiting for the first football game of the season, I turned to my friend and told her how cute he was. Then he came and sat right next to me! Together we're best friends, incredibly similar in many ways but with differences that compliment each other.
June 4th was the day he landed, visiting me for the summer just after his graduation. Near my house is a beautiful reservoir surrounded by walking trails and pockets of woodland. He'd been asking about my favourite places near my house that I hadn't taken him to yet and I described this place as 'magical'. It holds a lot of sentimental memories for me, so he really picked the perfect place. Looking back he told me how daunting it was for him, not being from here and trying to arrange a good proposal!
My mum was in on the plan and had bought a gorgeous picnic blanket, champagne and a really yummy lunch. Under the guise that it was just a cute date to celebrate being together we ventured off to eat our picnic, and in my case get really tipsy from champagne! He'd wrapped my ring in a huge box, to throw me off. Half way through our lunch he told me to tear off the wrapping and close my eyes. He'd been teasing me about this 'gift' for a while- I hate surprises and constantly ask for clues about what my presents are. You can picture the rest- he told me to open them, and there he was on one knee with the ring! Honestly? I freaked out and turned away because I just didn't not believe it. It was a shock, but something I knew I really wanted, and was so so happy.
That's my little story!

off-the-shoulder gorgeousness

TOP off the shoulder shirt from Topshop | NECKLACE Statement bib necklace, similar here | SKIRT similar ones here and here | SHOES Topshop brown loafers

Don't you just love ruffles and off-the-shoulder pieces? There's something so whimsical and beautifully flattering about tops and dresses that cut off at the shoulders. As a lover of all things American, particularly Southern and preppy style this top is beyond perfection for me. It reminds me of something one of my favourite ever bloggers (Kate from A Lodestar State of Southern
)would wear. The crisp white and soft floaty fabric make it so easy and comfortable to wear when it's hot out.

My necklace was an Easy find, it has to be my favourite statement necklace. The colours are vibrant and electric, making it an instant eye catcher. Paired with this top, it draws the eye in to the décolletage, I felt very girly in this pairing!

Aren't this pictures great? My wonderful finance took them- he's an absolute camera novice!

wedding venue viewing

TOP Similar version | TROUSERS similar here and here | BAG I can't find mine anywhere, but I am so in love with this one | SANDALS these beauties would be a good alternative

How perfect are these patterned Michael Kors Trousers? I'm a self confessed Michael Kors fanatic. I have more than a few items in my wardrobe with the famous MK branding. There's something very classic and easy about almost everything they come out with. Surprise surprise, my bag is also Michael Kors. I love the berry colour of the leather, next to the silver hardware it looks so vibrant, perfect for the cooler months.
I was searching for a pair of the perfect patterned trousers, this pair were a steal from TK Maxx for only £30. This weekend we went to view another wedding venue (we've chosen one! I can't wait to start doing some real planning and pick a final date) and this casual outfit was perfect to wander around in. I love this bright red of my Topshop came against the navy and bright aqua of my trousers and necklace.
These trousers could be styled a million other ways, they're great for work or play. You'll see a lot more of them on here I'm sure!

pompoms by the sea

KIMONO Floral Kimono Original from Yumi, similar linked (and it's got pompoms!!) | NECKLACE Blue Cascading Gems Sold out, but I linked a similar from Accessorize. | PLAYSUIT Pompom Playsuit I bought this from Depop, so I linked one that's almost identical! | SHOES Tan Heeled Sandals As these were a sale find, I've linked a similar pair.

If it has pompoms on, then chances are I'm going to be obsessed with it. There's something so fun and playful about pompoms, they spruced up this simple playsuit and made it a statement wardrobe piece, with a subtle and classic flair. This outfit was perfect for a day spent visiting family by the beach. The front wrap over detail, and nipped in waist helped the light fabric and loose shape have some femininity and look flattering. Special secret tip for wrap over tops that always seem to be too low cut? Use a safety pin and hide the metal pin in the seam!
I'm a huge lover of Depop, or really anywhere I can steal a great bargain! Bonafide TK Maxx addict over here.... This Playsuit was a steal for only £9. If you're smart and ask the sellers questions you can find some amazing pieces to update your wardrobe!
This tassel style necklace is so sassy, blue is my favourite colour to wear, and I think this is such a versatile statement necklace. It could be worn with anything.
This sweet floral Kimono was perfect to help keep the sea breeze at bay, but wasn't too heavy in the sun! We've been having some very warm and humid days for England recently. Kimono's are the perfect light cover for the summer months and recently I've fallen in love with them. Keep your eyes peeled because you'll be seeing some of my recent purchases!
